An album is an experience in absinthe and metaphysical chemistry.

And so, Hangout Galaxy is cut from such magical alchemy, bent on honest curations climbing into human experience, into its tears, into its wounds of the heart, left only to hypnotize more starlike creatures under its spell of whispering languages of love and timelessness. Who are we but companions pounding our thoughts into stones to document the burning of our galaxies? These are but flickering ideas in the candles of time shining throughout its runtime.

As with most people, the pandemic gave me the time and opportunity to check myself and pave a new road forward embracing fear, change, uncomfortability, and fuse that with the sounds and songs I was writing slowly but surely. Some of these songs originate in 2017 even. But the album's basic philosophy is founded in egolessness, groundlessness, and hopelessness. The latter viewed more as an opportunity for openness to new waves of thought and embracing pain rather than a state of despair, out of our control, languishing on the floor banging our paws in utter futility.

These feelings were distilled into 8 tracks that each is a unique perspective, a universe of songs both vocal and instrumental conjuring up feelings that can be seen as either dark or light, yin or yang, STARLIGHT or MOONLIGHT. It is ultimately about our current waves of change as a global thirst for power grips our world, as these herculean seismic tidal waves wash over us with chaos and disconnection. The current times both ground us and defang our hope for an uncertain future.

Can we be reborn? What happens out in the galaxy of the unknown? Every day is a rebirth to venture thru and create new life in how we vent about all this shit out of our control that have us lying awake at night screaming in dreams.

The album also uniquely uses the physical vinyl form in its arrangement to convey light and dark moods you may be plagued with. . . or rescued by. You see it, it’s Starlight or Moonlight. They exist. Like our pain. Like our joy. Every twist and turn, mulled over, leavin songs that delve into the difficulty and fear embodying personal growth and change. It also focuses on the power of love, connection, and community to help heal a world that resembles a trauma victim. An amalgam of influences ranging from Burial to Lee "Scratch" Perry to Skinny Puppy to Young Fathers. Hangout Galaxy’s arrangements are largely improvised while being recorded, jams that became songs, free to roam. The album explores a galaxy of artistic feelings that have helped me define my own personal story of strife, life, longing as the world is spun on its skull.
