SNAEX in the grass, the grass is the rain, The Rain has been given. A deep sense of humor enables SNAEX to continue creating music, which is not given. Each recording is a journey, a beginning and an end. When a record is finished, it's not abnormal to think, "will this be the last one?" Who knows? Maybe there is no "last one," but rather the "only" one. The record has been given. In the winter of 2021, Tyler Heydolph (along with other SNAEX) engineered and produced various loops and first mixes, which would become our building blocks. Yet, the path is crooked, SNAEX slither and the way has been given. Sustaining the will to finish is where, within SNAEX, the magic lies. So...during the early Spring of 2023 SNAEX recorded three songs with John Gaither at Worried Note Studios in Bowdoinham. The session was live and the space sublime. That was a satisfying day. Has Been Given is exactly the right length, the length has been given according to the balance between momentum and what should be. As always, Caleb Mulkerin was there with his helpful ears and heart. Caleb recorded the vocal for Melancolía and then set us on a path toward David Rogers-Berry. David mixed the six songs and he did this very well. Being a heart thinker and a consummate professional, David was patient, but prescient. He knew what to do. Then, just as SNAEX mastered the songs, Caleb mastered the record, and the songs have been given. Finally, Javi with the guidance from Molly Angie conceived of and created all the artwork and design. Now two full years later, SNAEX Has Been Given.
